Your account. Your choice.
Request account deletion, access to your information, a correction or withdrawal of consent. Parents and guardians can use this contact route too.
1. Delete in the app
In updated app versions with these controls, open Profile → Account & safety → Delete my account. Review the deletion notice, confirm your choice and sign in again when asked to verify account ownership. Deletion is permanent. The app confirms completion; if it reports an error, follow the retry instructions or contact us.
This removes your account and associated cloud data, including saved reading, learning progress, social data and submitted or published writing and insights linked to the account. A minimal account-identifier deletion record is retained to prevent old devices from restoring deleted data. Store purchase records and provider backups or logs are handled separately.
If you cannot access your account or your installed version does not have this option, use the email route below. Cancel subscriptions separately before a renewal you do not want.
2. Send a request
Email essayguideapp@gmail.com from the address associated with your EssayGuide account where possible. Use the subject EssayGuide account and data request.
- Say whether you want deletion, access, correction or another kind of help.
- Include your account email or username so we can locate the account.
- If acting for a young person, explain your relationship and what you need.
Do not send passwords, card numbers or unnecessary identity documents. This link opens your email app; no request is submitted until you send the message.
3. What happens next
The email route is available for account and data requests; this website does not sign you in or automatically delete your app account. We will review the request and may ask for information needed to confirm account ownership or parental authority. We will explain the next steps and any additional time needed, and confirm when a deletion is completed.
A deletion request covers the account and associated personal data, including profile details, supported cloud-saved favourites, highlights and word history, learning progress and linked social data. Tell us about comments, submitted files or published contributions you also want addressed, including any author attribution.
We will explain any information that must be retained for legal, security or transaction reasons. Store purchase records, provider logs and backups may have separate retention arrangements. Removal from our service does not automatically erase copies other people have already made.
4. Cancel subscriptions separately
Account deletion does not cancel a subscription. Manage it in Apple’s subscription settings or Google Play before a renewal you do not want. The store’s billing and refund rules apply.
5. Guest data and more information
Some guest data exists only on your device. Removing local app data or uninstalling may remove it and it may not be recoverable. Contact us if you are unsure what is saved to your account. Read the privacy policy for more about storage, sharing and your choices.
