1. Using EssayGuide

EssayGuide is operated by Yiek Siew Hao. By using the service, you agree to these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not agree, stop using the service. App-store terms also apply to downloads and purchases made through those stores.

If you are under 18, use the service with a parent or guardian’s knowledge and permission. Get their approval before making a purchase or sharing personal information.

2. Your account

EssayGuide is intended for secondary-school students aged 13 and above. Provide accurate information needed for your account, keep sign-in credentials secure and use only accounts you are entitled to access. Contact us if you believe an account has been accessed without permission.

Guest access and supported account-sync features depend on your app version. Sign in to the same account to access supported cloud-saved progress and reading data. Device-only settings and guest data are not guaranteed to transfer to another installation.

3. Study, practise and write your own work

EssayGuide provides educational examples, vocabulary, notes and practice. Use them to develop your own understanding. Do not submit someone else’s essay as your own work or use the service to break your school’s assessment rules.

We aim to provide useful content, but examples can contain errors and exam requirements can change. Check important requirements against your teacher and official exam materials. We do not guarantee grades or exam outcomes. EssayGuide is an independent learning resource; it does not claim official examination-board endorsement.

4. Your writing and contributions

You retain ownership of your original work. Only submit writing, images or other material you created or have permission to share. Follow the submission flow’s author-consent and attribution choices.

When you choose to submit content for publication, you permit EssayGuide to review, format and display it for that purpose with the applicable attribution. We may correct formatting, decline a submission or remove content that is unsuitable, inaccurate or reported as infringing. Contact us about attribution or removal requests.

Do not include another person’s personal details without permission. We cannot promise that every submission will be published or reviewed within a particular time.

5. Be a good study neighbour

• Be respectful in comments, friend interactions and contributions.
• Do not post harassment, hate, threats, sexual material, spam or deceptive content.
• Do not share private information or impersonate someone else.
• Do not manipulate scores, rewards, likes or rankings with automation or fabricated activity.
• Do not probe accounts, bypass access controls or interfere with the service.

Updated app versions let you report supported comments or insights, block other users and delete your own comments. Comments may be held for moderation before appearing publicly. For a harmful comment, impersonation, privacy issue or copyright concern, you can also use the content-report contact. Include where the content appears and enough detail to locate it. Do not repeat another person’s private information unnecessarily.

6. Progress and virtual rewards

XP, streaks, quests, rankings, virtual coins and avatar items recognise participation. Virtual rewards have no cash value and are not transferable or redeemable for money. Availability and reward rules may change as the learning experience evolves.

Website quizzes and interactive screens are samples. Their answers and visual rewards are not saved to your account and do not earn in-app XP or coins. Some features shown on the website preview an upcoming version rather than the version currently in your store.

7. Free practice, hearts and optional ads

The new learning experience includes two free lesson starts per local calendar day, refilling at midnight. Starting a lesson uses a heart; a wrong answer does not. Reading and Short Notes do not spend lesson-start hearts. Pro members have unlimited lesson starts.

Eligible iOS app versions may offer an optional rewarded ad after the free allowance is used. Completing a qualifying ad can earn one extra heart, up to one bonus per account per day. A dismissed or failed ad does not earn a heart. Availability is not guaranteed; an ad may be unavailable because of connectivity, region, privacy choices or provider availability. If an earned reward is waiting to sync, follow the app’s collection prompt or contact support before uninstalling.

Rewarded ads do not award XP, coins or a league position. You do not have to watch one or buy Pro to use your next free daily allowance. Hearts and other virtual rewards have no cash value. These rules describe the new experience; the version currently available in your store may differ.

8. Pro, subscriptions and purchases

Prices, duration, included features and any trial conditions are shown in the app’s purchase screen and your store’s confirmation. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We do not promise a free trial or a discount unless it is explicitly included in that offer.

• Monthly Pro: an auto-renewing subscription billed at the store-displayed price and period until cancelled under the store’s terms.
• Lifetime Pro: a one-time unlock of the Pro access described in the offer, rather than a recurring monthly subscription. Check the offer for its scope; it is not a promise that every future separate product is included.

Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple or Google Play. Uninstalling EssayGuide or deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription. Use Restore Purchases with the appropriate store account and sign in to the correct EssayGuide account. Contact us if a completed purchase does not unlock the advertised access.

Refund requests are handled through your store’s applicable process and eligibility rules. These terms do not remove mandatory consumer rights. Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies to the iOS app unless a custom EULA is supplied in its App Store listing; these service terms apply alongside the applicable store terms.

9. Content and intellectual property

App code, branding, illustrations and other EssayGuide materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. Contributor work remains its authors’ work. You may use the service for your own learning, but may not bulk-copy, resell, redistribute or present its content as your own without permission or an applicable legal exception.

10. Changes, availability and moderation

We may add, change or retire features and content. Access may be interrupted for maintenance or circumstances outside our control. We may restrict or suspend activity that breaches these terms or threatens other users or the service. Where reasonably possible, we will explain the issue and provide a route to contact us. Nothing here excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Leaving and data requests

You can stop using EssayGuide at any time. In updated app versions, open Profile → Account & safety → Delete my account to confirm permanent deletion. Use the account and data request page to request deletion or help with your data. Cancel any paid subscription separately through your store. The privacy policy explains retention and requests.

12. Applicable law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, subject to mandatory rights and protections that apply to you. We may update them as the service changes and will identify the new version’s date. Questions, complaints and content reports can be sent to essayguideapp@gmail.com.
